Twenty years ago a small group of intrepid voyagers assembled in Missoula MT with harps in hand. They were the first of many to set off into the mysterious realms of music, death, grief and love, mapping their way with the field of music-thanatology.....
Sailing by Night is 50-minute solo performance piece exploring death and loss from the unique perspective of music-thanatology. A theatrical mix of humor, beautiful music, movement and tender stories, Sailing by Night is a powerful artistic and educational tool for both the general public and the full spectrum of healthcare practitioners. A dynamic centerpiece for community outreach, conference and/or benefit events, Sailing by Night engages and inspires the audience, opening up new avenues for much needed dialogue on end-of-life care.
Sailing by Night was originally performed as part of the 2009 Sol-O Fest at The Filling Station in Albuquerque, NM. It has since performed at VSA North 4th Theater, Albuquerque, NM, The Annual MTAI Conference in Missoula, MT, Eastport Arts Center, Eastport, ME, the New England Hospice and Palliative Care Education 2010 Conference, and El Museo Cultural, Santa Fe, NM. Most recently Sailing by Night performed as part of the United Solo Theater Festival in New York City, October 2012.
